As part of the 3rd annual Winters Salmon Festival (November 3, 2018) Winters students participated in an art contest, submitting pieces for judging by the Winters Salmon Festival committee. The different schools were assigned themes relating to salmon food webs and how these marvelous fish interact with their environment. Winning pieces will be transformed into a tile mural project along the paved nature trail bordering the Winters Putah Creek Nature Park.
The winners from each school were:
Waggoner Elementary School: Raegan Hurst
Shirley Rominger Intermediate School: Jemima Lanfranco
Winters Middle School: Ava Cassidy
This is the third such art contest associated with the Winters Salmon Festival. The first two murals were installed at the Lake Solano Park Nature Center and Lake Berryessa Oak Shores Day Use Area. The Winters Salmon Festival committee is excited to see this new piece transformed into a permanent art installation that will delight and educate Winters residents and visitors alike! The committee anticipates the tiles will be installed before Summer 2019. Please contact the Putah Creek Council office with any questions: 530-795-3006.
