Community members gathered on Friday evening to celebrate individuals and businesses in town with the biggest hearts and selfless efforts.

After a two year hiatus — due to COVID shutdowns — the annual Toast of Winters event, hosted by the Winters Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Winters Community Center on Friday, April 8.

The award recipients included:

Citizen of the Year: Chris Turkovich (2021) and John Rodriguez (2020)

Business of the Year: Winters Healthcare (2021) and First Northern Bank (2020)

Senior Citizen of the Year: Peggy Kelley (2021) and Joe Bristow (2020)

Theodore Winters: Taylor Buley (2021) and Tamsen Schultz Bhachech (2020)

Mariani Nut Co. was recognized for their 50 years of business and were noted for their generosity in uplifting the community in multiple ways.

Sue Moualim, Chamber Executive Director, presented the new Chamber Board of Directors. Moualim also presented the first “You Rock Award” to Chamber Chair Person of the Board Rachel Woods. Moualim said Woods is the “first to show up and the last to leave” and makes “hard work seem like magic.”
