With the return of the 84th annual Youth Day parade, so did the kick-off festivities of the traditional Duck Derby race and Kiddie parade. Nothing quite taps into the inner-child’s spirt like a race of rubber ducks down Putah Creek and seeing young children taking over Main Street.

This year’s Duck Derby accolades go to Steve Brown, whose duck glided across the finish line first. Brown’s duck was followed by ducks for Kara Maloney (second) and John Carbahal (third).

Bob Guerin’s duck was the last to float across the finish line. Guerin’s prize is a flock of ducks in next year’s Duck Derby race.
