Going out to eat can seem stressful when one is trying to eat healthy. The options are tempting and the luxury of not having to cook or clean up afterward is enticing. Making an intentional choice to choose to eat healthier options on the menu is key, and many eateries are making efforts to make that choice easier to make. The Express reached out to local eateries to find out what meal on their menu is considered a healthy option to order when you’re out to eat. Tomat’s California Cuisine: Spinach and Feta Omelet (on their brunch menu.) Three large eggs with fresh spinach and crumbled feta, served with a side of berries, seasonal fruit and fresh tomato slices. Putah Creek Café: Acai Bowl (on their breakfast/lunch menu.) Fresh seasonal fruit accompany the power food with a mix of granola and almond milk. El Pueblo Meat Market & Deli: Taco Salad A crisp salad encased in an even crispier shell, that includes lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, your choice of meat, and optional sour cream. Green River Brewing & Taproom: Dry Creek Salad All white chicken meat and lettuce, ripe avocados, diced tomatoes, a dash of hardwood smoked bacon and diced onions, all dressed with a basil pesto ranch. Ocean Restaurant: Cashew Chicken with Wonton Soup. All pre-steamed vegetables that include zucchini, water chestnuts, carrots, celery, cashews and chicken. Soup: fresh chicken stock, flavorful vegetables, and wontons. Buckhorn Steakhouse: Buckhorn Wedge A wedge of crisp iceberg lettuce, served with red onion & tomatoes, and finished with a creamy bleu cheese dressing. Chuy’s Taqueria: Chicken Fajita Grilled chicken with green and red peppers, grilled onions and tomatoes, with avocado and lettuce, on warm tortillas. Ficelle: Fruita y Queso Various seasonal and local fruit, accompanied by an assortment of cheeses. Preserve: Dandelion Salad Fresh dandelion greens topped with salt-roasted beets, house-made labneh cheese, Terra Firma mandarins, Mariani almonds, and a light drizzle of beef-fat vinaigrette. The bitter greens are to balance well with the creamy cheese and house-made dressing. Steady Eddys Coffee House: Greek Wrap Grilled chicken, lettuce, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, and feta cheese, wrapped in a spinach tortilla, and topped with a homemade vinaigrette. Yolo Traders Bistro: Seared Ahi Spring Rolls These rolls are wrapped in rice paper, and contain organic micro-greens, golden beets, watermelon radishes, daikon and carrots, topped with an organic mango sauce. Kountry Kitchen: Veggie Burrito All the goodness of a burrito, but without those pesky meat calories. Beans, cheese and rice are the main players, but sour cream, and fresh lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and cilantro add the extra balance of flavor that one needs in such instances. Hooby’s Brewing: Caesar Spinach Wrap This wrap is free from preservatives and includes only healthy and organic ingredients. Special Caesar dressing is drizzled on the lettuce and pickled onions, and chicken can be added for an extra charge to ensure that one gets their fill.]]>
