Welp, I did it again. I gave into my sweet tooth and — as always — it did not lead me astray. In fact, it led me straight to El Pueblo Meat Market & Taqueria where I ordered a toasty churro and a tall glass of horchata to wash the sugar down with more sugar. This tidal wave of sweetness was not only one of the tastiest things I’ve had since my last food review, but is this week’s Flavor Fave!

First, let me get started with the churro. It’s about $45 less than the uninspired log you’d get at Disneyland and tastes 10 times better, too. Also, I didn’t know it was possible for food to look ‘attractive,’ but the churro’s spiral shape combined with its toasty, cinnamon brown coloring covered in a sparkling coat of sugar … aye Dios mio! It was literal eye candy that made me question if it was too pretty to eat. After dismissing the stupid question, I took a glorious first bite.

The churro’s crunch was beyond satisfying on my teeth’s journey to the middle. The dough was warm and chewy and I was left licking the cinnamon and sugar off my lips after every bite.

Then there’s the horchata to consider right next to it. The ice-cold, milky white, cinnamon sugar sensation straight up tastes like the holidays. At this point, I’m on a wild sugar high and am getting crazy ideas like breaking my churro in half and dipping it in the horchata. I’m not saying I’m a culinary genius, but if you haven’t tried doing that, all I have to say to you is, “c’moooon.”

After I scarfed the churro, there was still a little horchata left. Since I’m a caffeine addict, I opted to experiment once again and pour a little horchata into my coffee. Was it delicious? I mean, what do you think? I was sipping coffchata!

At the end of the day, I was beyond satisfied with this FLAVOR FAVE and couldn’t help but think that milk’s got a whole lotta nada on El Pueblo’s horchata!
