Programs at the Winters Community Library and Esparto Regional Library in November

The following fall programs will be held during the month of November at Yolo County’s Winters Community Library and the Esparto Regional Library:

  • November is Native American Heritage Month!  All Yolo County Library branches will celebrate with displays, highlighting the history and culture of the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, and recommended reading.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 6: Get Out the Vote! The Library is a polling location. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. To find your polling place, visit the Yolo Elections Office website: Vote by Mail ballots may be dropped off in the ballot box during library business hours until Monday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
The following events will be happening in the Winters Community Library:
  • Thursday, Nov. 1:  Sugar Skull Decorating, 6 p.m.  Commemorate Dia de los Muertos by decorating a sugar skull.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 6: Yolo Shorts Workshop, 5 p.m.  Explore new technology at our first GoPro Movie Weekly Workshop and Festival, open to all library card holders.  Sign up to borrow one of the GoPro Cameras to shoot and edit a short. Camera check outs will be available daily through Friday, Nov. 9. This is the final class of three.
  • Thursday, Nov. 8: Winters Friends of the Library (WFoL) Annual Gathering 6 p.m.  Meet the WFoL Board; listen to featured speaker Maceo Montoya, a local artist, writer, and educator. There will be a raffle and refreshments created by the Winters High School Culinary students.  Participants can learn more about how you can get involved with WFoL and join their team to help to support the library, increase literacy, foster a love of reading and enhance community culture.  All are welcome to attend.
The following events will be happening at the Esparto Regional Library:
  • Tuesday, Nov. 8: Evening Family Movie, 6 p.m.  Join R.I.S.E. After School Program and the Esparto Regional Library for a family friendly (rated G or PG) movie. For movie title call the library at 530-787-3426 or R.I.S.E. After School Program at 530-308-1052.
  • Thursday, Nov. 10: Garden Composting/Vermicomposting, 10:15 a.m.  This information program is presented by the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Yolo County.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 13: Free Computer Class, 10:30 a.m.  Basic computer class covering simple tech support, beginner terminology, library computer resources and a Q & A session.  Registration is required and will be limited to the first ten signups. To register, call 530-787-3426 or sign up at the library service desk.  This class will be offered on the second Tuesday of each month.
  • Thursday, Nov. 15: Northern California Bats: Bats Eat Bugs, 3:30 p.m.  Join Corky Quirk for a family experience to learn all about bats in your area.  There will be live bats!
  • Wednesday, Nov. 28: Senior Adult Art Class with Julie, 10 a.m.  Enjoy a hands-on class featuring acrylic paint with tape on canvas. This class will be held at the Senior Program at the Country Villa Mobile Estates at 26262 County Road 21A, Esparto, CA  95627.
  • Thursday, Nov. 29: Children’s Art Class with Julie, 3:30 p.m.  Enjoy a hands-on class featuring painting on ceramic tiles. All ages are welcome.
The following ongoing programs continue at the Winters Community Library in November:
  • SUCCESS: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.
  • Needle Arts: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m.
  • Libros y Chisme: 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
  • Family Story Time: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Cursos de Ingles: Jueves a las 6:00 p.m.
  • Literary Trails: Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m.
  • Hora de Cuentas/Bi-lingual Story Time: Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.  Sponsored by First 5 Yolo.
  • Aguas Frescas: Last Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
  • Lego Block Party: 2nd Saturday of the month at 2:00 p.m.
  • Family Movie: Last Saturday of the month at 2:00 p.m.
  • Tales for Tails: Children ages 4-12 are invited to read to a therapy dog. Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.  
NOTICES:  The Winters Community Library will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, for Veterans Day. The library will also revert to the School Break schedule Monday, Nov. 19 through Sunday, Nov. 25, due to the Thanksgiving Break and will be open as follows that week: Monday and Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday and Friday: closed for Thanksgiving; Saturday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday: closed. School In Session hours resume Monday, Nov. 26.  ]]>
