The annual Back to School Nights are on the calendar for Winters Joint Unified School Districts schools. Back to School Nights serve as an opportunity for school administrators, staff and local organizations to reach out to Winters families and talk to them about important school and classroom matters, upcoming events and potential fundraising opportunities. Matt Moran, lead teacher at Wolfskill Career Readiness Academy, said their Back to School Night is a great way for parents and interested adults to learn about the new program and to learn what is planned for their students education this year. He said family members will also get a chance to see the internship and employment opportunities for Career Readiness Academy students this school year. “At Back to School we encourage parents to be directly involved in the educational plans for students at the Career Readiness Academy by becoming participants in our school site council. We encourage both parents and students to attend since it is a great way for students to see the bigger picture of their education,” Moran said. Winters Middle School Principal Phoebe Girimonte said parents are encouraged to attend the middle school Back to School Night without their children so they can fully attend to and participate in the classroom presentations. The WMS Back to School Night will have childcare provided. “Back to School Night is an opportunity for parents and guardians to ‘step into the shoes’ of their children and experience an abbreviated version of the student day. Family members have an opportunity to attend each class, meet each teacher, and learn more about the standards, curriculum, and course expectations in each subject area,” said Girimonte. “Back to School Night opens up the lines of communication between teachers and families and helps set students up for a successful school year.” The schedule of WJUSD school site Back to School Nights for the 2019-20 school year are:
