The California Highway Patrol is seeking the suspect in a freeway shooting incident that affected traffic through the Davis area Saturday night.

According to a Solano CHP news release issued Monday, officers were dispatched at about 6:45 p.m. to a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision on eastbound I-80 near the Highway 113 interchange.

“During the investigation, officers discovered a shooting and subsequent physical altercation occurred between the involved parties following the crash,” officials said. “Neither party was struck by gunfire, but the assault victim sustained moderate injuries.”

Witnesses reported that the shooting/assault suspect fled the scene in a white Toyota Camry after the altercation and remained at large as of Monday. Davis police reported that a subsequent traffic backup on eastbound I-80 through Davis that night was related to the incident.

A shooting investigation remains underway by the special investigations unit of the CHP’s Golden Gate division. Anyone with information is urged to contact the CHP Investigation Tip Line at 707-917-4491.
