Fundraising Committee for Winters Senior Center Furniture and Fixtures
The City is seeking applicants to serve a two-year term on the Fundraising Committee for the Winters Senior Center Furniture and Fixtures. The City Council approved the establishment of the fundraising committee at the Oct. 6 meeting.

The Fundraising Committee was established to purchase items for the Winters Senior Center (soon be under construction) that are not included in grant and CDBG program income funds. Types of items include, but are not limited to:  tables, chairs, kitchen utensils, televisions, couches, and major appliances as needed. In addition to fixtures and furniture, the committee will also be tasked to raise funds to employ a single staff member.

The goal is to find seven members to serve on the committee. The term of service is two years, or until a successor is appointed.

Winters Senior Commission on Aging
The City is also seeking applicants to serve a term on the Winters Senior Commission on Aging.

The Winters Senior Commission on Aging was established last summer to serve as a forum for discussing the unique needs of senior citizens in the community, including but not limited to transportation, housing, and healthcare. The Commission acts as an advisory board to the City Council and performs a number of functions for the benefit of seniors residing in the Winters area.

The term of service is four years, or until a successor is appointed.

How to apply
Applications for both opportunities are being accepted through Friday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. The Application for Appointment to City Board, Commission or Committee can be downloaded from the City of Winters website at http://www.cityofwinters.org/. Application links are posted on the main navigation bar under the “Government Departments” category, and on the “Senior Resources” drop down tab.

Prospective applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a Winters residential address. In appointing members to the Committee, the City Council shall endeavor to appoint a membership that represents the diversity of the City of Winters by race, age and gender.
