West Yolo Democratic Club Press Release

Miriam Horn, who hosted Greta Thunberg in New York last year, will be the guest speaker at the next West Yolo Democratic Club meeting, Monday, Feb. 24 at 7:45 at the Palms Playhouse, 13 Main St., in Winters. The public is invited to attend.

Horn is an author, journalist, filmmaker, and climate activist. She is also the woman who hosted Thunberg while she stayed in New York to prepare and give her speech to the United Nations.  Horn says she watched the 16 year-old from Sweden write her famous speech on their kitchen table.

Horn will talk about her time with Thunberg as well as her upcoming book, a biography of the wildlife biologist, George Schaller.

Also on the program will be a short address by former Secretary of Agriculture and longtime Winters resident, Rich Rominger, and as well as City Council member, Jesse Loren and local activist, Bonnie Dixon.

WYDC is welcoming new members to the club as they begin ramping up their efforts towards the fall election. WYDC is a local Democratic club that has members from west Davis, Winters, and the surrounding region in order to promote Democratic ideals and candidates.  It is open to all interested residents of the region.

Doors open at 7:30 and refreshments and beverages will be available for purchase.
