Join Friends of Meals On Wheels for the annual fundraising event, the Epicurean Esprit as it marks its 29th year to benefit Meals On Wheels Yolo County. This popular charity evening will be held on Thursday, May 10, from 6-8:30 pm. at The Maples, a classic country estate venue in Woodland. The “Esprit” is a special gathering of the local community as they mingle and sample some of Yolo County’s finest cuisine, wine and beverages donated by over 50 local restaurants, wineries and breweries.

Supporting Meals On Wheels, the Epicurean Esprit raises money to help insure continued meal delivery to almost 350 elderly people at home and at Senior Center locations throughout Yolo County every week day. Unlike many senior meal programs in neighboring counties that distribute frozen meals a few times a month, the Elderly Nutrition Program operates a full restaurant style kitchen to prepare fresh cooked meals daily. Dedicated volunteers from the community deliver the noon time meal five days a week to the homebound elderly.

Tickets for the event are $50 per person. They are available for purchase at National Town & Valley Properties in Woodland, The Gifted Penguin and Strelitzia Flower Company in Davis. Tickets can also be ordered through: https://esprit2018.eventbrite.com. Call Kathy Aukes, 530-304-4682 for more information.

According to this year’s event organizer, Sarah Kelleher-Robinson, this year’s Epicurean Esprit will be dedicated to the memory of Tari Vinson who passed away in October 2017. She was an enthusiastic member of Friends of Meals On Wheels and chaired the committee that organized the Esprit for the past two years. The delivered meals program for our homebound seniors was a cause in which she was a firm believer and devoted much time and energy.
