An appeal was filed on behalf of William Carl Gardner III in the State of California Third Appellate District regarding his 2014 conviction for the Nov. 18, 2013 murder of Winters resident Leslie Pinkston. Gardner was sentenced to life in prison on Dec. 1, 2014, convicted of first degree murder, as well as multiple related charges.

According to Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig, the Appellate Court affirmed all of the 2014 convictions. Gardner then petitioned the California Supreme Court to have his case reheard and was denied that request on Sept. 20.

Reisig said there will be no change to Gardner’s sentence and he will remain behind bars.
