Winters residents are making decisions and casting their votes for the upcoming Nov. 8 General Election.

The Winters Express has created a voter’s guide with information about all of the candidates who appear on the ballot this election.

Winters City Council Candidates

Five candidates are running to fill one of the three open seats on the Winters City Council. Learn more about each candidate in a series of City Council Candidate profiles:

Winters voters had an opportunity to ask questions about the issues they think are important at the Winters City Council Candidates Forum on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022. The public forum was hosted in the Margaret Parsons Room at the Winters Community Library. The non-partisan, in-person forum was hosted in collaboration with the Winters Express and Democracy Winters. Watch the video, here.

Winters Joint Unified School District — Trustee Area Two Candidates

The Winters Joint Unified School District Trustee Area Two race is the only election appearing on the ballot this November. Learn more about the two candidates running for the seat:

The Winters Express collected questions from the community and asked the Trustee Area Two candidates to answer a curated version of them in 100 words or less. Read their responses, here.


How to vote, Return your ballot

Yolo County replaced its traditional polling places with 13 vote centers throughout, has placed 16 ballot drop boxes, and has identified some rural communities as mobile vote center locations.

In Winters, the ballot drop box is located inside of Lorenzo’s Market (121 E. Grant Ave.) daily during business hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

An outdoor ballot drop box located outside of the Esparto Regional Library (17065 Yolo Ave.) is available 24/7.

All ballot drop boxes are available now through Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.

Voters can also return their completed ballots via the postal service or at a vote center.

Local vote centers will be open from Saturday, Nov. 5 to Monday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to p.m., and on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Winters, the vote center will be located at the Public Safety Facility – EOC Training Room (702 W. Main St.). In Esparto, the vote center is located at the Esparto Community Hall (17020 Yolo Ave.).

The mobile vote center locations and dates are available at https://www.yoloelections.org/voters-choice-act/mobile-vote-center.

After weighing in, voters can receive notification of when their ballots are received by the county elections office and counted. Visit https://california.ballottrax.net/voter/ to sign up for ballot tracking.
