Friends and community members are rallying together to uplift the family of Jessica Cruz, a Winters woman who died in late June, to help raise money for funeral expenses. Cruz died on Saturday, June 26 after years of battling an illness.

Although raised in Dixon, Cruz was a beloved community member according to friend Joselyn Mayoral. She said Cruz had worked at Chuy’s Taqueria for over 10 years, and had moved to Winters about three years ago with her husband and young daughter.

Jessica had been fighting for her health for 10 years but lived a beautiful life loved by her family and many residents of Dixon and Winters,” Mayoral said.

Cruz’s family has set up a GoFundMe for her funeral expenses. As of press time the online campaign has raised $25,868. A jar to receive monetary donations is also available at Chuy’s Taqueria.

“We appreciate any help and to those who have already donated, we are grateful,” said Mayoral.
