Winters Police Department assisted in the arrest of a man who allegedly fled from probation officers Tuesday during a routine probation search, the agency announced on social media.
According to the post, probation officers first made contact with Dale Ritter Jr., a validated Vacaville gang member on searchable probation for assault with a deadly weapon, in the first block of Grant Avenue near Winters High School.
“When probation officers attempted to conduct a search of his person, Ritter fled and probation officers detained him a few minutes later at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Second Street,” police said. “Probation officers walked the area where Ritter fled and located a loaded firearm lying in the bushes next to the sidewalk.”
Ritter was booked into the Yolo County Jail on various gun-related charges and a probation violation, police said.
