On KDRT: Palms ending its lease

The Palms Playhouse, with no clear end to the pandemic in sight, has gone on indefinite hiatus and isn’t renewing its lease for its location in downtown Winters, says co-owner Nora Carey on the latest edition of the KDRT program “Davisville.”

She also talks with host Bill Buchanan about the pandemic, the last concert the Palms held on March 7, running a for-profit business with no profit, some favorite moments since she and Andrew Fridae bought the Palms in 2016, the magic of a good performance and what might come next.

The Palms opened in Davis in the 1970s in a former barn, then moved to Winters in 2002.

“Davisville” is broadcast on KDRT-LP, 95.7 FM at 5:30 p.m. Mondays and at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Palms program began airing Monday, will be broadcast through Aug. 30, and is available anytime at http://kdrt.org/davisville or on Apple podcasts.
