As fall brings the beginning of school for Winters students, it also brings the beginning of the Senior Capstone Project season for the Class of 2020 at Winters High School. The Senior Capstone Parent and Mentor Information Night is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 26 from 6-7 p.m. in the Margaret Parsons Room at the Winters Community Library. Raena Lavelle, a WHS teacher and one of the two Capstone coordinators, said the meeting is open to any parents and guardians of senior class students who are interested in learning more about the Capstone Project requirements. Students in the Class of 2020 are also invited to attend, however, they will be receiving the same information in their Explore classes where Capstone Project materials are discussed in more detail. According to Lavelle, at the meeting they will also go into more detail about the roles and responsibilities of mentors. Individuals who have been asked by a student to serve as their mentor for their Capstone Project are encouraged to attend to learn more about what their role as a mentor involves. “Attending the meeting is important so parents can be in the loop about how to best support their seniors during the project, when major due dates are as well as Capstone Night,” Lavelle said. Questions or concerns regarding Senior Capstone Projects can be directed to Lavelle or Andrea Hurst. Their information is available on the faculty and staff page on the WHS website at https://whs-wintersjusd-ca.schoolloop.com/staff. ]]>
