Two young teens dead in rural Winters ATV crash

Authorities are investigating an ATV crash late Thursday afternoon that left two young teens dead.

The vehicle crashed into a tree in the are of the 4300 block of Margaret Lane near Holmes Lane, the California Highway Patrol reports. The incident was reported at at approximately 4:15 p.m.

Preliminary reports from the scene indicated three juveniles were riding the ATV at the time of the crash. One of the juveniles was possibly dead at the scene, one was unconscious and breathing but with a weak pulse, and another had a head injury. Both juveniles were transported to the hospital.

The CHP confirmed Thursday night that two of the teens died as a result of their injuries. The other teen’s injuries were described as minor.

Emergency responders remained at the scene into the night.
