This year, students attending schools in Winters Joint Unified School District head back to classrooms on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Winters teachers and staff members are already busy prepping and getting ready for their return.

One of the newest changes this year is the introduction of the Parent Portal online registration process. The process of updating a student’s emergency contact information online will replace the previous method of having families fill out and submit a paper Emergency Card for each student.

Families who have students enrolled in a Winters JUSD school received an email on July 25 that contained important login information to begin the online registration process.

In addition to emergency contacts, families are also required to read through and sign important documents including the Winters JUSD and school site handbooks, technology use agreement, and other beginning of school documents.

Parents should complete online registration prior to the scheduled paper parades and registration events scheduled for each school site. Families who have multiple children enrolled will need to update the emergency contact information and documents for each student that resides in their household.

On Monday, the school district added more Parent Portal registration support events to the schedule. The remaining registration support dates are on:

Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 3–4 p.m. in the Winters JUSD office Board Room.

Thursday, Aug. 4 from 2–6 p.m. at the Shirley Rominger Intermediate School and Waggoner Elementary School sites.

Friday, Aug. 5 from 2–5 p.m. in the Winters JUSD office Board Room

Questions regarding the online registration process should be sent to Raena Lavelle at rlavelle@wintersjusd.org or Rodrigo Lopez at rlopez@wintersjusd.org.

The Alternative Income Form  can also be filled out online. Winters JUSD sent out a link on Tuesday via the Parent Portal app. All families are encouraged to fill it out (even if they don’t think they’ll qualify) because the forms qualify the school district for additional funding for district-wide programs. Families could qualify for discounted school fees, district-wide programs, and other discounts.

Questions about the alternative income form can be sent to Cathy Olsen at colsen@wintersjusd.org.
