The Winters Open Mic, a nonprofit monthly gathering of musicians, poets, and other performers will be returning to the Winters Opera House beginning Thursday, Nov. 17. The historic Winters Opera House (former home of The Palms Playhouse) is located at 13 Main St. in Winters, Calif.

Monthly Open Mic shows will continue at the Opera House through March. All shows will be on the third Thursday of each month, starting at 6 p.m. Sign-ups for performers will begin at 5 p.m.

The Open Mic last took place at the Opera House in March. Since then, it has been held monthly on Saturday evenings in the cordoned-off portion of Main Street in Winters. Now that the weather is turning cold, the show will move back indoors until spring.

The Open Mic is an all-volunteer organization that depends on the donated time and energy of its crew to keep going. According to Open Mic founder Sam Hawk, the aims of the Open Mic include giving the opportunity to new artists to gain experience to become better performers and offer seasoned artists a venue to try out new material.
