The Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance is recognizing a Winters man as a 2020 Yolo Senior Superstar.

Sheila Allen, YHAA Executive Director, announced that Winters resident Wally Pearce, and another Yolo senior, would be honored as 2020 Senior Superstars at their virtual fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 4.

The other Senior Superstar being recognized is Cindi Royval Unger from Davis.

Allen said Superstars are selected based on their long term and significant contribution to serving the aging community and have been role models for active aging.

“Both of these community members work tirelessly to enhance the lives of our older adults,” Allen said.

Pearce was described as a robust advocate who co-founded several successful older-adult nonprofit organizations in Winters.

The Rancho Yolo Community Association, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization in Davis, is also being honored as a 2020 Senior Superstar organization.

YHAA has made efforts for 10 years advocating for seniors, educating the public on important aging issues and bringing together a variety of senior services of support.

Their original fundraiser date scheduled on March 29 was postponed due to COVID-19.

Proceeds from the Oct. 4 virtual event will be used to meet the YHAA mission of promoting the well-being of older adults in Yolo County through education, collaboration, and advocacy.
