Warriors tops Williams at quarterfinals The Winters High School football team with a record of 4-6 hosted the 4-6 Williams Yellowjackets in the California Interscholastic Federation, Northern Section quarterfinals on Friday, November 15. The Warriors beat Williams 34-12. The Warriors got their first possession off a fumble recovery, in a drive of five plays they scored their first touchdown, setting the scoring dominance the Warriors would keep the whole game. The offensive line was strong across the board, pushing the ball through the Yellowjackets line. Carson Lowrie and Aiden Cruz were key, as they move the ball 354 yards. The Defense played a great game, one up to the standards the Warriors set for themselves in the last three weeks. The Defensive line held fast, controlling the field, and made the yellowjackets earn their two scoring plays.  The Warriors now 5-6, with a playoff win under their belt, will travel to Pierce High School, for the NSCIF semifinals, in their second match against the Bears, with a 7-4 record, on Friday.  Cross country closes second in division finals The Winters Warriors cross country team traveled to cottonwood for the Northern Section, California Interscholastic Federation Championships, last Thursday, November 14. The ranking for the boys varsity team came to three photo finishes, the boys took second place, one point away from Colusa, finishing where you have the entire season, one point on either side of Colusa, speaks to the dedication the Warriors made to the team and themselves.  The girls varsity team also taking second place, with 281 points to Etna’s 183. The girls with as much dedication as the boys managed a gap of 97 points competing against 124 runners, which is a small gap. ]]>
