The Winters High School swim team went to the Northern Section of California Interscholastic Conference, Division 2 State Championships in Anderson, Ca, Hosted by Durham High School. The Warriors competed against a total of 18 schools, and placed seventh overall. The women took 11th and the men placed fifth. Junior  Ruben Valencia made three first place positions, becoming a three time sectional champion. Ruben started off taking a first in the 50-yard Freestyle with a 23.52. He went on to swim the 100 yard freestyle with a 51.90. Last but not least, Valencia swam in a 200-yard Freestyle relay, with team mates Sam Peterson Garrett Matheson and Diego Valencia timed at 1:37.90. The meet started off with the 200-yard relay medley the men placing sixth with a time 2:06.97. The women had a time of 2:36.04 placing eleventh. In the 200-yard freestyle, senior Cara Baker placed eighth with a time 2:34.58, along with Darian Lopez who also placed eighth timed in at 2:14.42. The only Warrior to swim the 200-yard IM medley was Matheson, clocking in a time of 2:40.90 for ninth place. Taylor Davis swam the 100-yard Butterfly and came in third with a 1:08.67. Davis also swam the 500-yard Freestyle and clocked an impressive 6:44.39 for eighth place in this endurance event which is one of her strengths. Peterson also competed in the 100-yard Butterfly for the men, taking eighth with a 1:05.10 on the clock.]]>
