Boys JV basketball takes two wins, two losses

The Winters High School boys Junior Varsity basketball team played four games this week. The first of which was a non-conference home game against St. Helena. On Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8 the Warriors went to Dixon for a tournament. There they played in three non-conference games. The Warriors ended the week with two wins and two losses. On Friday the Warriors played their long time rival the Dixon Rams in the first game of the tournament. The Warriors dominated the first half, controlling the flow of the game and rebounds. The Warriors took the lead early and never gave the Rams a chance to close the point gap. In the second half the rams retook the court and put on the pressure, but the Warrior defense was to great. The Warriors won with a score of 34-21. On the second day of the Tournament the Warriors played two games. The first was against Vacaville High School. Both teams had a strong defenses but Vacaville’s offense was just a little stronger. The game was rarely more than seven points apart, except once when the spread was 12 points. The Warriors quickly closed the gap. The final score was 49–42. The game against St. Helena, the third game in the tournament, has not had scores reported. Check back on for updates to this story. Next week the Junior Varsity basketball team will play in three games. The first two will be Sacramento Valley League Games. The Warriors will travel to East Nicolaus on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Thursday, Dec. 13 the Warriors will host Esparto and on Friday, Dec. 14 they will host Rio Vista for a non-Conference game.]]>
