The Winters High School junior varsity softball team played in a home conference doubleheader against Colusa High School last Tuesday afternoon. The two games were originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday and Friday. With an FFA event scheduled that conflicted with the Friday games, the two schools agreed to adjust their softball schedules. The first game started at 2 p.m. on the Shirley Rominger field. The Warriors went into the game ready for a battle. What they ended up getting was two very rough games. The Warriors had eleven hits in the first game but only one run. Joslin Rooney and Lilian Wirth went 2-2, while Jasmine Jimenez and Emily Hoag went 2-1. Emily Aguiar went 3-0 and had the only run for the Warriors from a dropped third strike. The game ended with a score of 15-1, a loss for the Warriors. [gallery jnewsslider="true" ids="773345,773346,773350,773352"] At the second game of the day, the Warriors got more of the first. Colusa had a strong batting order and a team that continued to dominate the field. Aguiar and Wirth had the only two runs knocked in. Both scoring plays were from RBIs. Jozlyn Rooney hit a double and was thrown out while attempting to steal third base. The final score of the game was 12-2 to Colusa. On Wednesday, May 1st the Warriors will travel to East Nicolaus High School for another non-Conference game. ]]>
