Junior varsity softball wins their last game of the season

The Winters High School junior varsity softball team traveled to Sutter High School to play in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday, May 6. This game had been rescheduled twice.

All the athletes played a good, even game. Amaya Jimenez stood out with one run and one hit. Madison Duarte scored two runs with two stolen bases, and Lilian Wirth hit a double and had two hits and two runs. Emily Aguiar earned a run and had two RBIs. Sierra Berry had two runs. Out of two hits Xiomara Guzman-Haro had one run and three RBIs. Emily Hoag had one hit with two RBIs and one run. The score at the end of the first game was 20-10, a loss for the Warriors.

The Warriors turned it around and won the second game 5-1. Guzman-Haro hit a home run, bringing in Berry, for an RBI. Jimenez was walked twice and had one run while never hitting the ball while at bat. Joslin Rooney had one hit in the game, bringing in an RBI. Wirth had a hit, getting her on base, and one run. Hoag also had one hit, she also had an RBI.

“In the past three games the girls played have been great all the way around,” said Assistant Coach Baylee Shaw. “I am proud of their performance on the field and finishing the season on a high note, holding their heads high no matter the outcome of the game.”

This game closes the season for the junior varsity softball team.
