Junior Varsity Warriors start the season off right

The Winters High School Junior Varsity Basketball team traveled to the town of Williams, to play in the first game of the season, which was a non-conference game. The Junior Varsity lady Warriors played well as a team and had a definite height advantage. The girls played hard and came home with a win, the score was 32-15. “It was a good start for us. Everyone got to play. We did a pretty good job rebounding,” said coach Tom Crisp. The Warriors were lead in points by Freshman Gianna Carrion with 16 points , Shelby Boykin, Xiomara Guzman, and Ruby Arizaga all contributed to the score with 4 points each. Yolonda Covarrubias sunk one form outside the three point line. The remainder of the points are attributed to free throws. Coach Crisp stated, “There are a lot of fundamentals that we need to work on, but I am encouraged by the attitude and effort from the girls.” There will be two games next week for the Junior Varsity Basketball team. The next game will be on Tuesday, December 4, at 5 pm,   were the Winters Warriors will host St. Helena. On Friday December 7, at 5:30 pm the Lady Warriors will travel to Esparto.
