The Winters High School junior varsity baseball team played in an away non-conference doubleheader against Sutter High School on Wednesday May 1. This game was rescheduled twice, once due to rain and field conditions and once due to lack of bus drivers. The third rescheduling was the charm, and the team was able to compete. The record for the doubleheader is 1-1. Matt Moore pitched until the sixth inning with five strikeouts and only two walks. Joe Iten came in to relieve Moore and closed out the game. Moore had two hits while coming to the plate three times. It was Tony Garcia’s last game playing with the junior varsity team, as he put on the varsity uniform on Friday. Garcia will play with the Varsity team for the postseason. The Warriors won the first game with a score of 5-3. In the second game the Warriors brought in eight runs by the third inning. At the bottom of the third inning the score was 8-4 in favor of the Warriors. Richard Padilla pitched until the third inning and was relieved by Hunter Godden. In the fourth inning Godden gave up a three run home run, which was the turning point of the game. Garcia was a bat four times and had one hit that was an RBI. The final score of the game was 9-8 for Sutter. This doubleheader concludes the season for the junior varsity baseball team. ]]>
