Local man participates in Spartan race

Winters local and Winters High School graduate Jules Damey participated in his first Spartan race in Sacramento last weekend.

Winters local Jules Damey ran the Sacramento Sprint at Van Vleck Ranch on Saturday, Nov. 3.

The race was 4 miles long, comprising of over 15 obstacles through rugged terrain. Damey says that the obstacles he went through included rope climbs, jumping over walls and crawling underneath barbed wire. According to Damey, the mental aspect of the race was just as grueling. Damey finished with a time of 1:07:50, placing 297th overall out of 5,277 competitors.
“While this was my first Spartan race ever, it definitely won’t be my last!” Damey says.
