Winters Middle School track athletes competed for the first time since COVID pandemic closed programming down.

None of the athletes have had the experience of an actual track meet and it was nice to see Winters come in strong. The WMS track team traveled to Dixon where John Knight hosted Winters, Lee and Douglass Middle Schools. WMS is still waiting to hear the final team points. However, Winters placed first thru third place in most of the events.

Maci Dodic placed first in the seventh grade girls (7G) 70-yard hurdles at 12.6, and first in the 7G 400-meters at 1:12.

Lilliana McCabe-Borchard placed first in the eighth grade girls (8G) 70-yard hurdles at 13.1.

The 7G 4×100 meter relay was an amazing race. Lola Barsotti, Aylin Molina, Idaly Lopez and Dodic finished strong leaving their competitors way behind at 1:04.

Lena Passantino placed first in the 7G mile at 6:23, and first again in the 7G 800-meters at 2:59.

Henry Girimonte placed first in the 1st in seventh grade boys 800-meters at 2:57, and third in the 7B mile at 6:18.

Violet Tuel placed first in the 8G 400-meters at 1:20.

In the 8B 4×440 meter relay, the team of Edgar Velarde, Henry Girimonte, Gavin Pisani and Jayden Clifford placed second at 5:10.

Winters will co-host with Lee at the Winters High School track on Wednesday, May 11.
