Track and Field hosts Sacramento Valley League track meet

The Winters High School Track and Field team hosted a Sacramento Valley League track meet at the Dr. Sellers field. The Warriors hosted Colusa, Pierce, Willows and Live Oak High Schools. Overall the Warriors placed third, with 209 points to the 291.5 points held by Pierce in the home track meet. The varsity boys team took first place with 84 points overall. Albert Ramos competed in two events. In the triple jump Ramos placed first with a distance 49-4 feet, a personal record for Ramos. Ramos’ second event was the 400 meter. In this event Ramos placed second with a time of 1:01.40. Juan Paublo Garcia placed in two jumping Events. In the triple jump Garcia took second place, his distance was 39-6.5 feet. In the long Jump Garcia placed fourth with a distance of 18-8.5. Anthony Jimenez had an excellent showing in the Long jump. Jimenez accomplished his personal goal for this track season, making a jump of 20 feet. Jimenez also set a new personal record and took first place with a distance of 20-0.5. Jimenez also ran the 200 meter race, taking second with a time of 25.68. Paulo Leal also competed in the long jump, coming in third with a personal record of 19-8. Over at the high jump, Ryan Andersen tied for first place with Daniel Medina from Pierce. Andersen set a person record with a jump of 5-8. Avandre Coleman-Tucker competed in the two throwing events. In the shot put Coleman placed first, throwing the shot put 39-8.5. Coleman took second in the discus throw with 94-8. The varsity boys 4×400 relay team placed first with a time of 4:19.49. The 4×100 relay team also placed first with a time of 46.2. Jaxson Davis came in third In the 1600 meter race, with a time of 5:30.17. Davis also competed in the 800 meter, again taking third place his time was 2:35.92. Jeremy Alberg also ran the 1600. He placed fifth with a time of 5:40.59. Juan Blanco ran the 100 meter, placing third with a time of 12.19 and setting a personal record. The Junior Varsity boys team did well with an overall placing of third, bringing in 39 points for the Warriors. Aiden Cruz placed in two events during the meet. In the long jump, Cruz jumped a distance of 17-4, taking first place. Cruz also ran in the 200 meter where he placed third with a time of 26.53. Christian Gonzalez placed fifth in the 100 meter, running it in 12.75. Dalton Shaw ran the 400 meter in 1:06.25 and set a personal record. Shaw took third place. Guillermo Valadez also ran the 400 meter, coming in just a fraction of a second after Shaw at 1:06.58. The Warriors relay team that ran the 4×100 relay took first place with a time of 51.02. Brandon Colter ran both the 1600 meter and the 3200 meter. In the 1600 Colter ran 5:20.55, taking second. In the 3200 Colter took first place with a time of 13:01. The Warriors girls varsity team placed second overall with 46 points. Odales Gonzalez competed in the two throwing events. Gonzalez threw the discus for 80-4 feet and placed first. In the shot put, Gonzalez threw for 26-10 feet and placed third. Aide Aguillera also competed in the shot put event. Aguillera threw the shot put for 27-2.5 feet and place second. The 4×100 relay team placed first with 54.66 seconds. Cara Baker ran the 1600 meter taking second place with a time of 7:41.44. Victoria Banuelos placed in two events the 400 meter and the 200 meter. In the 400 meter Banuelos ran it in 1:10.03, and the 200 meter in 29.83. Banuelos took first place in both events. The Warriors, girls Junior Varsity team took fourth place overall with 36 points. Stephanie Angel placed in three events. In the 100 meter Angel ran it in 14.77 and took fourth place. Angel also threw the shot put and the discus. In the shot put Angel threw 21-9.5, taking second place. In the discus event Angel took second again with a distance of 65-5.5. Celeste Garcia also placed in the two throwing events. In the shot put Garcia threw for 21-1.5 taking third place. In the discus event Garcia threw for 56-4, taking fourth place. The discus for the next thrower, Itzel Rodriguez, landed just five inches short at 55-11. Rodriguez took fifth place. Alejandra Junez ran the 100 meter and placed fifth with a time 15.03. Sofia Chavez ran the 800 meter and placed third in the event. The time for Chavez was 3:12.89. Natasha Diaz rant he 1600 meter, taking fourth place with a time of 7:49.72. The 4×100 relay team took first place. The Winters High School track and field team will compete in the Sacramento valley League Championship next on Friday, May 3.  ]]>
