Track team competes at Joe Halden Invitational

The Winters High School track and field team started with a full week. The Warriors had two meets scheduled. The meet at Pierce High School was canceled due to rain and the field and track being to wet. The second meet was the Davis High School’s annual track meet, the Joe Halden Invitational.

On the warmest day of Spring and only a gentle breeze, the conditions were perfect at Davis High School. Anthony Jimenez competed in the long jump and set a personal record of 19’ 9’’ placing sixth. Jimenez has set a goal for this year to make a jump of 20 feet. Jimenez ran the 100 meter in 11.92 seconds and the 200 meter in 24.01 seconds. Albert Ramos ran the 400 meter and finished with a time of 56.5 seconds. Ramos came in first in his heat seconds ahead of the other six runners. Ramos placed 30th in the event. Ramos also competed in the triple jump, jumping 41’ 3’’ coming in fourth place.

In the 4×100 meter relay the varsity boys team: Ryan Andersen, Ramos, JuanPablo Garcia, and Jimenez ran at 46.2 seconds placing seventh. The junior varsity boys team: Aidan Cruz, Christian Gonzalez, Carson Mehl and Garrett Mattheson ran their race in 51.3 seconds placing ninth.

Brandon Colter ran the 1600 meter in 5:10. Jaxson Davis also ran the 1600 coming in just behind Colter at 5:15.
