Varsity Baseball adds two wins

The Warriors began the week with a record of 4-0 in league, tied with Colusa High School. By the end of the week the Warriors added two wins in league and one loss to their overall record. The Warriors took first, leaving Colusa in second place in league standings.   On Tuesday, April 23 the Warriors had a home conference game against Colusa. The Warriors knocked in six runs in the first inning, followed by two more in the second. They took a commanding lead early in the game. By the end of the fifth inning the Warriors added four more runs. Brandon Gomez pitched, keeping Colusa to three runs. The Warriors won 12-3. [caption id="attachment_773340" align="alignright" width="300"] Cooper Andres plays for the out at first base during a baseball game against Colusa High School.[/caption] Last Thursday the Warriors traveled out to Sutter High School for their non-conference game.  Ryan Stone threw the game against Sutter. The Warriors ended the first inning 2-1 in the lead. Sutter quickly took control of the game, never letting the Warriors have the lead again. The Warriors were not able to score again until the fifth inning with just one more run to Sutter’s five runs. The final score was 5-3, a loss for the Warriors. Coach Jeff Ingles said, “Ryan was not sharp but battled and ate up some crucial innings with us being short handed.” [caption id="attachment_773341" align="alignright" width="300"] Brandon Gomez pitches for the Warriors in a baseball game against Colusa High School.[/caption] “Daniel dominated today (Friday) which clinched us at least a co-championship of the SVL (Sacramento Valley League) with two league games remaining. Win one and we will win league, outright.” On Friday, April 26th the Warriors went back on the road, this time to Colusa for their second conference game of the week. Daniel Carrion pitched the game. The Warriors had one run in the first inning and two more runs in the second. The Warriors added four more runs in the fourth inning, the same inning Colusa knocked in their only run. In the fifth inning, the Warriors cinched up the game with eight more runs. They won the game with a score of 15-1. This week the team will finish the regular season with a home game against Pierce. After the two wins against Colusa, the Warriors are looking at going on to the Playoffs for the league championship.]]>
