Varsity softball team rally late, but lose to Live Oak

The Winters High School varsity softball team played in three games last week. Two against Live Oak High School and one against Vacaville Christian High School.

In Monday’s game against Vacaville Christian the Warriors traveled for a non-conference game. Brooke Benson went for 3-4, having the highest batting average for the game at .750, although, Benson did not have any runs. Makynsie Tuttle and Camryn Hamilton each hit a double and were able to round the bases to home, each scoring one run. The final score was 2-1 a win for the Warriors.

On Tuesday the Warriors traveled again, this time to Live Oak High School, for a Sacramento Valley League game. The Warriors fought the whole game trying to bring in any runs. In the seventh inning they succeeded when Elina Perez was able to cross home plate. The score of the game was 5-1, a loss for the Warriors.

On Friday the Warriors hosted Live Oak in a SVL game. The Warriors started out down runs. In the fifth inning the Warriors started a rally that had enough momentum to carry them into the seventh inning. The Warriors tried to turn the game around to be in their favor. Perez went 3-3 and hit an in-park home run, after rounding the bases she slid into home and took out the catcher. Gianna Carrion pitched the whole game, she also took a hit in the leg in the fifth inning and managed to finish pitching, Carrion also hit a triple that brought in two RBIs. The score of the game was 15-11, still a loss for the Warriors, but the three inning rally was inspiring.

This week the Warriors played in a home non-conference game against Durham High School on Tuesday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
