Warriors end Varsity softball on a high note

The Winters High School varsity softball team started their final series of games last week. The Warriors had two games scheduled to play Pierce High School, an away game on Wednesday and a home game on Friday. Both games were Sacramento Valley League games. The seniors on the team were recognized after Friday’s game during senior night. In Wednesday’s game against Pierce the Warriors played very well. Everyone in the Warriors batting order were up at bat at least three times, and some four times. Also, the entire batting order had one hit during the game. Makynsie Tuttle and Camryn Hamilton both had RBIs, while Elina Perez, Brooke Benson and Jillian McMillian each had one run. Tuttle and AliAnn Iten both had hit a double, and with a sharp eye on the ball Benson was walked three times in Wednesday’s game. The final score on the game 4-3 to Pierce. During Friday’s game the Warriors came out strong. In the bottom of the third inning the Warriors brought in three runs, giving them the lead in the game. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Warriors started a rally that brought in four runs and cinched the win for the Warriors. Gianna Carrion and Benson both had two runs and Benson had an RBI. Perez, Tuttle, Iten and  each had one run. Marin Spaulding went to the plate and once had a hit. Spaulding also was able to steal a base in her last game before graduates. The score on the game was 7-4. a win for the Warriors and definitely ending their season on a high note. Tuttle has been picked to represent Winters High School in the 42nd Annual Optimist All Star Softball Game. The teams will be made up of players from 18 different schools from the area and divided into two teams, North and South. The game will be played on Wednesday, May 29  at Capitol Christian in Sacramento. The games against Pierce conclude the Warriors Season in the Sacramento Valley League. The Warriors end the season with a league record of 0-8 and will not proceed to play offs.  ]]>
