Warriors get one more win for the end of the season

Winters High School hosted the Willows Honkers in the last Scholastic Intercollegiate of Northern Section league game. The Junior Varsity Warriors held control of the field, making the outcome of the game a win with a score of 14 – 7. The Warriors started by holding off the Willows offense from scoring. The Winters defense came to play and showed off some outstanding performances. Dylan Adams had two quarterback sacks, while Christian Gonzales caused grief to the Willows passing attack with two interceptions. Meanwhile Kadin Pease, Anthony Gutierrez, Hunter Godden and Richard Padilla showed outstanding team work while controlling the inside run game. In the first quarter Matt Moore had thrown two passes to Aiden Cruz for the first warrior touchdown. The PAT was kicked by Richard Padilla. The Honkers where finally able to answer the first scoring play in the third quarter. The Warriors offense made the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter with a pass to Tony Garcia. “The Warrior offensive line, which consisted of JT Core, Wilson Stone, Hunter Godden and Richard Padilla, proved to be at their best when containing their run and pass blocks,” said coach Toodie Gomez. The game ended with a Warrior defensive stand inside the 20-yard line, with only seconds left on the clock. The defense stopped all attempts made by the Honker offense. The Warrior offense regained procession and burned off the remaining seconds to end the game.]]>
