A constellation of track stars formed Saturday, April 9, all taking part in the Chico Track and Field Invitational. With 34 other teams to contend with, the Warriors had to scratch and claw their way onto the score sheet as only three Winters High School athletes attended the meet.

The competition was fierce, however the Warriors didn’t go down without a fight.

In the women’s varsity 400-meters, Ava Skinner finished in 17 place with a time of 71.21.

For the women’s junior varsity discus, Mikenzie Hapworth-Eldridge placed 19th with a distance of 46 feet, 9 inches.

Unfortunately, the limited numbers made it difficult for the men’s team to compete with the high caliber competition as well.

In the men’s junior varsity 100-meters race, Kenneth Matheson placed 19. However, his finishing time was a 12.62, which was a new personal record.

With that, the Warriors’ day of competition came to a close. Although slightly uneventful, they’re looking forward to the next track meet taking place on April 30 in Paradise.
