On Saturday, Oct. 9 the Winters Jr. Warriors teams went head-to-head against the undefeated Woodland Christian Jr. Cardinals.
While all four Jr. Warrior teams put up a good fight, they too failed to break the Cardinals perfect record. The Mitey Mites and Pee Wees both lost 26-0, the Jr. Midgets lost 36-0 and the Midgets lost 30-16.
“This week showed that our players have a lot of drive. They fought hard all the way until the end and we will be back strong and ready to play next week,” said Pee Wee coach Justin Hellinger.
It was a tough day for all four Jr. Warriors teams, however it was especially devastating for the Warrior Midgets, who up until Saturday, were undefeated.
The Midgets played a hard game, but a few key injuries early in the game caused struggles on both the offensive and defensive side. Both starting defensive corners suffered injuries in the first half, one of them being Cameron Bermudez who has been playing unbelievably for the Midget team.
Quarterback Jake Woods and receiver Lane Brown played an exceptional game. Despite a shoulder injury midway through the game, Woods continued to play and completed some key passes to Brown.
