Alice Mae Chapman Briggs passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2016, she was 99 years old. She was born on Aug. 25, 1917 in San Francisco to George Mandred and Louise Chapman. She was a lifelong resident of Winters and lived in the same home on the family ranch since she was a young child. She married Yolo Briggs on Dec. 24, 1942. Together they had three children, Kim, Randee and Candee.

Alice Mae attended Union School and Winters High School, and graduated in 1935. She retired from the Yolo County Superintendent of Schools office after 20 years of service. She was a true professional, graceful, and often served as a mother figure to her co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Yolo, in 2004, and all of her parents and siblings, Rhoda, George, Virginia, Fran and Mandred.

Alice Mae is survived by her son, Kim Briggs and wife Sandy, and their children, Greg, Jeff, Stephanie Briggs, Cathi (Mike) Daly, Christine (Jeff) Rivard and Karen Carlson; daughter, Randee Briggs Hutchison, and her children, Monte (Jeanette) Molina, Israel (Melody) Hutchison and Chamene Hutchison (To’o Ulutu); daughter Candee Briggs; great-grandchildren, Sara and Elizabeth Daly, Erica and Brian Rivard, Ash Cooper, Max, Conner and Hailee Hutchison, Gary and Karlee Molina, Taimane and Lole Ulutu; and one great-great-grandchild, Haven Rose Hutchison.

Our mother will be remembered by many because of her extremely patient, loving, kind, generous and giving soul. She will be greatly missed by her family and wonderful friends.
