Clara Diana Marie Sunderman

Clara Diana Marie Sunderman passed away Sept. 14, 2016. She was born at the family home in Mena, Arkansas on Feb. 16, 1946 and baptized at Trinity Lutheran in Mena shortly thereafter. She was the sixth child of Herman and Mary Sunderman with three brothers and two sisters; a third sister joining the family in 1954.

The family migrated to California in the late spring of 1948 and lived in Winters until the mid ‘60s. The Sunderman family traveled to Trinity Lutheran in Fairfield until Bethany Lutheran was established in Vacaville in the late ‘50s. She was confirmed in May 1959 and served briefly as the church secretary after graduating from Winters High School.

Diana became a single mom of her two children when they were very young. She was especially devoted to the care and comfort of her only grandchild Nic. She eventually attended Yuba Community College where she earned a Licensed Vocational Nurse degree. She remarried shortly after graduation and moved to Vacaville where she lived out her life. She began employment at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa and retired in 2008 after 25 years of service. After retirement, her main hobby was ancestry research for many friends and family.

She joins her parents and three brothers in eternity, and will forever be remembered and missed by her children, grandson, and remaining family and friends. John Charles Junkin, 97, of Vacaville, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sept. 20, 2016. He was born in Ketchikan, Alaska, on Oct. 8, 1918. Funeral services were held and he will be laid to rest at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were performed by Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home 707-446-3233
