Louie David Poteat, 66, born in Burbank, California, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016.
In his early years, he was an Emergency Medical Technician II in the Mammoth Lakes area, where he saved many lives and delivered several babies in extreme weather conditions. He then continued his career in Solano County and later became a correctional officer for the California Department of Corrections, where he worked for 20 years and retired there.
David will be especially remembered for his love of family, camping, hiking, fishing, the great outdoors, storytelling, love for reading and quirky sense of humor.
He leaves his wife of 32 years, Tammy Poteat; his sons, Jimmy Lucas (Tami), Eric Poteat, Chris Poteat (Chelsey) and Brian Poteat (Rosie); daughter, Shanna Poteat, two brothers, seven sisters, two grandchildren, and many additional family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and David Poteat, along with his sister Julie.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 30, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 435 Anderson Avenue, Winters, CA 95694, reception to follow.
