Doug was born Dec. 21, 1959 and left peacefully in his sleep on April 10, 2022. Doug spent his youth and young adult life in Fairfield living in his childhood home. His first job was working for Digerud Auto Supply as a Machinist and was known as “Digerud Doug” by many. He then moved to a very short stint as a roofer before moving to Paioli’s Truck Repair. While working for Joe Paioli he was given the opportunity to work for Fairfield Public Safety at the Fire Department. This started a long career as a fire mechanic and fire engineer. Doug started his career with the department in April of 1987 and retired December 2013.
Doug was an avid motorcycle rider. He loved riding his dirt bike in his “backyard” at Stonyford or in his favorite southern backyard Baja California, Mexico. He was able to successfully compete on a Baja 500 and 1000 race team in 2021. He loved riding his BMW adventure bike on any winding road with his friends and family. He had many motorcycle friends and families. Doug died after a perfect day of dirt riding with his Valley Climber’s Motorcycle Club family.
Doug married his best friend, Jackie Greener twice, once on Dec. 13, 1986 and again on June 13, 1987. They had two wonderful sons, Jonathon and Michael. Doug and Jackie enjoyed 35 years married and 38 years together. They went on many family adventures with their boys, imparting a love of motorcycles and the outdoors. Doug and Jackie enjoyed a life of fun and adventure together.
Doug is preceded in death by his niece Kara Ann Miller (1998), his father Arnold Monnin (2001), his brother Gerald Monnin (2003), his sister-in-law Annette (Rosenberg) Monnin (2020), and his mother Clara (Molinari) Monnin in 2021 at the age of 100-and-one-half years old. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jackie (Greener) Monnin; two sons, Jonathon Monnin (Bryan Payne) and Michael Monnin; his brother James Monnin; sister Celeste (Monnin) Chenard (Stewart); many nieces, nephews, many extended families, and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held at Green River Taproom at 4513 Putah Creek Rd, Winters, CA 95694 at Noon. All friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate Doug’s life. Please do not send flowers, donate to your favorite Fire or Veteran’s association.
