John A. Gonzales was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Winters, Calif. He passed away on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at Kaiser Hospital surrounded by family. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was married to his high school sweetheart Virginia for 61 years. He provided for his family by working at Teichert Readymix for 34 years, he also worked Sundays at Willow Oak grocery and umpiring baseball games. He loved to go to his kids’ and grandchildren’s sporting games, singing programs, 4H and FFA functions. He was always there with encouragement. He loved to dance and raise calves. He loved to go camping at Dillon Beach and Deer Creek with family and friends. He really enjoyed his time at the Eagles putting on the luau‘s, bingo and Christmas parties for the kids. He was a strong union member with the Teamsters local 150. All the drivers looked up to him. He had a close relationship with fellow driver Bill Baker who would tease him every day.

John is survived by his children: John (Gloria) Gonzales Jr., Cathy Gonzales, Carole (Steve) Armstrong, Chery (Phillip) Thomson, Steven (Tina) Gonzales, and Susie (Ron) Shoffit. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren. His sisters Lois (Rolph) Foster, Anna (Ron) Manley, brother Buell (Susie) Gonzales and sister-in-law Linda Gonzales.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; his parents Alejandro and Edna Gonzales; brothers Mac, Willie, Herman, Ralph and his sisters Edna Jo and Christina, and granddaughter Chrissy.
