On the morning of October 22, Joseph Martin Garcia, surrounded by loved ones, peacefully passed away at his home in Esparto after 89 years of life.

Joe was born in Winters to Maria and José Garcia on September 25, 1932. He enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve in 1951 and served actively from 1953 to 1955 in which he was assigned as a quartermaster aboard the USS St. Paul during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1959. Shortly thereafter, he began a 35 year career at Aramark where he retired as a general manager at the Concord facility in 1994. He spent the next 27 years of life enjoying his family and friends, travelling with his wife, and staying active in his community. He will be remembered as a man of great moral character who was always willing and able to help those in need. His family takes comfort in knowing that he loved Jesus and is now with God the Father.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Carrion, his brothers Frank and Tony Garcia, and his grandson Patrick Mulhern.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Donna Garcia, his sister Dee Papin, his daughter Cyndy Mulhern and husband Mike, his sons Joe Garcia, Steven Pangburn and wife Cheri, and his grandchildren Eric Wiegand and wife Elizabeth, Jennifer Wiegand, Joseph Garcia and wife Sheryl, Shawna Pawlaczyk and husband Steve, Kimberly Mulhern, Jenny Mulhern, Zachary Pangburn, and several great-grandchildren.

There are no formal services planned at this time.
