Born Sept. 30, 1955, in Aurora, Colo. at Fitzsimons Army Hospital to Wayne and Shirley Mercer. Expired April 16, 2022, after a battle with cancer. Sandy was an Air Force brat who lived her early life in different parts of the country, but called Boulder, Colo. and Novato, Calif. home. She spent summers in Boulder with her grandparents and the remainder of the year with her parents, wherever they happened to be stationed. She attended Santa Rosa Junior College, then transferred to UC Davis where she graduated with B.S., M.S., and D.V.M. degrees. She pursued a career in small animal veterinary medicine until one year before her passing.

Sandy was a traveler, who also loved a good road trip. An avid vegetable gardener, and reader of fictional novels, she also loved to cook and was very good at it.

After raising two sons she finally got her wish in the form of two granddaughters. She is survived by her husband Daniel Reed of Winters, sons Wiley Reed and Oliver Reed both of Winters. Granddaughters Lourdes and Adeline, and brothers Pat Mercer of Santa Rosa, Calif. and John Mercer of Boulder, Colo. She will be surely missed by all. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. in the Winters Community Center, all are welcome to attend.
