It is with great sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of our dear mother, longtime Winters resident Sally Ann (Clark) Neil, who passed away at home in Winters on Aug. 29, 2017, surrounded by her family and holding her husband’s hand. Born on July 14, 1938 in San Jose, she was 79.
We are sad that she is gone, but we celebrate a wonderful life where she was a loving, giving, devoted mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Sally married the love of her life, Walter Neil, on Aug. 11, 1956 and they shared a great life together for 61 years. He was her rock. Mom graduated from Rio Vista High School in 1956. She was the consummate homemaker where everyone was welcomed. She was a good friend to many lifelong friends.
Mom was an only child but was blessed with many cousins, mostly boys. She was like a big sister to them all and shared a special bond with each one.
Sally Ann was preceded in death by her father George Clark and her mother Doris A. Laurie.
She is survived by her loving husband Walter Neil; daughters Sandy Neil and Laurie Neil Hoskins (husband, Doug); sons Clark Neil and John Neil (wife, Karen); grandchildren Brock Neil, Ashlynne Neil, Katie Neil and Sarah Neil; Bruce and Douglas Hoskins, Jr.; great-grandchild Ryan Parker Hattabaugh. She will be missed by many and loved by all of us.
Services will be held at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell Street in Winters, on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be at the Winters Cemetery at 11 a.m. A celebration of her life will be held at the Winters Community Center immediately following the services.
