Bill was born to Elwin “Bud” and Mae Martin in Sacramento and was a lifelong Winters resident.  He graduated from Winters High School in 1969 as class salutatorian, and went on to attend Sacramento State, and obtained his PharmD from the University of California San Francisco.  While attending pharmacy school, he returned regularly to Winters to help out at the family ranch.  Bill played college baseball at Sacramento State, and recreational basketball with friends during his time at UCSF.  He was a lifelong Giants and Warriors fan, and enjoyed taking sons Brian and Greg to games.  He loved to sing, and composed and sang special songs for family Christmas gatherings, sang at church, and with the Winters Circle of Singers for a time.  He had a friendly and generous spirit.  He also loved gardening, and was always happy to share his vegetables and sunflowers with everyone.

Bill was predeceased by wife Susan Carmody Martin, and survived by their sons Brian(Kim) and Greg(Christine) Martin, his wife Sharon Martin, sister Judy(Tom) Prickett and brothers Steve(Susan) and Doug(Ellen) Martin.  Bill also leaves behind four grandchildren, Aubrey (Greg & Christine), Liam and Paige(Brian & Kim), and Abbiegale (Greg & Christine), other family members, and numerous friends.

Bill died from complications of Stage IV melanoma, and was able to spend his last days at home with friends and family.  At the time of his passing, wife Sharon and long-time friends Linda and Stuart Robertson were at his bedside.
