Elder Day thank you

Elder Day is dedicated to honoring those who have helped shape our lives and traces its origin to us all. Elder Day 2018 was celebrate at St Anthony’s Parris Hall on Saturday, June 2 and was a huge success for all that attended. Over 150-people attended the event this year including the honorees and their families and friends. Their stories were filled with history and love. The stories were both remarkable and stimulating.

By Winters City Council Proclamation, the intent of Elder Day is too appreciate the contributions that our elders make to our community.

However none of this could have been possible without the Elder Day Council volunteers that made the event a clear success. These council volunteers include, Irene Goya-Tweet, Woody Fridae, Marianne Boyer, Pierre Neu, Jesse Loren, Kyle Newmark and a host of others too numerous to mention here.

The Elder Day Council hopes that people understand that volunteerism is not about sport or notching a political win. Volunteers elect to serve. Active volunteerism for elder adults is about something bigger. It’s about the character and fabric of our community―who we are, and who we aspire to be.
