The Winters Friends of the Library would like to thank the community for coming out and supporting our annual Family Holiday Festival on Dec. 4. Judging by all of the smiles on children’s and parents’ faces, it appears fun was had by all.
It was a day filled with craft making, singing, dancing, children meeting Santa, delicious food, and, of course, books! Trees made out of books, Santa reading books, and books to buy. Winters Friends of the Library thanks each of you who made this such a fine event.
We send out a special thanks to Randy Oates and the Oates Family Store for providing the delicious sandwiches sold in Mrs. Claus’ Cafe, and to all of the bakers who provided sweet treats for this event.
A big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped the children at the craft tables, tapping trivets (thanks to the Winters High School wood shop class), rolling candles and making ornaments with glitter and glue. Gingerbread men, provided by Winters High School Culinary Arts program, were a gooey decorated delight. Children were busily creating interesting and tasty craft items to eat and that parents will treasure. Both Fortnightly Club and Soroptomists had handmade items for sale which added lovely gifts for adults to purchase.
The day would not have been as successful without the support of our local teachers, who worked with their students to fill the day with their singing. Thank you excellent kinder and first grade teachers, and thank you amazing Music teachers from Winters Middle and High Schools.
A wonderful addition this year were the dancers from Minds in Motion. The morning started off with musician Katie Henry leading preschoolers and their families in a playful sing along. The delightful Kari King completed the entertainment with sweet singing between groups.
And, of course, we cannot forget to thank the jolly one for taking time out of his busy time of year to spend a few hours with the children of Winters at the Family Holiday Festival, and for taking time to read them a book.
Once again, Winters Friends of the Library thanks our WFoL volunteers and the community of Winters for making the 2017 Family Holiday Festival an unqualified success. The loving and supportive individuals and families in our community continue to make Winters the special place that it is.
