A Winters Express Letter to the Editor

I enjoyed the article “Stretch goals” in the Senior News section on Aug. 25, but the article failed to mention yoga, especially Chair Yoga for Seniors.

Personally, it took my friend Gina to introduce me to yoga a couple of years ago. I am now a practitioner with her and several other 90-year-olds and others my age. For an hour each week, we enjoy stretches, movements and gentle exercises.

My husband Jerry and I began a chair yoga class with Kaiser several years ago. The Winters Senior Foundation is starting a Chair Yoga program with a Certified Yoga instructor. The sessions will be held each Wednesday, outdoors, at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, starting at 9:30 a.m. and lasting 50 minutes. No charge – bring water.
